As a Tax Staff Accountant, under the supervision of various professionals, you will be responsible for a wide variety of tax and accounting engagements.

 

Responsibilities of a Staff Accountant:

  • Perform accounting and/or auditing functions when needed
  • Prepare amended and carryback returns for NOLs
  • Prepare personal and business tax returns of varying complexities
  • Prepare personal tax projections utilizing the BNA software package
  • Respond to tax notices of any sort and initial drafts of letters required

As a Tax Supervisor, you will perform engagements with little supervision and be responsible for directing and reviewing the work of staff and senior tax personnel. Responsibilities of a Tax Supervisor:

  • Review corporate returns, extensions and quarterly estimates
  • Possess technical knowledge sufficient to supervise, mentor and develop engagement team members

As an Audit Manager, you are the liaison between the shareholders, the client and the professional staff and are generally responsible for all phases of an engagement. You should be able to make broad decisions in the course of your work. You must have knowledge of the general economic and political trends that could affect the business climate. Managers must have a complete understanding of the firm's philosophy and be conversant with its reports, its letters relating to matters of policy and its opinions on financial matters. You should maintain and develop expertise in the profession and bring added value to the client relationship.

 

Responsibilities of an Audit Manager:

  • Prepare client invoices
  • Manage the engagement and workflow of all client deliverables for multiple clients and engagements, including audited, reviewed and compiled financial statements
  • Prepare internal control and management letters, to minimize risk and surprises, optimize engagement economics, satisfy service objectives and meet internal and external deadlines
  • Lead the engagement planning process in terms of determining appropriate staff, timing, risk assessment, reliance on internal controls, audit or other engagement approach
  • Review engagement workpapers and related deliverables to ensure that firm and professional standards are met
  • Thoroughly research and conclude on technical matters, emerging GAAP, SAS requirements, etc.
  • Maintain steady contact with clients throughout the business year, which involves a thorough knowledge of the client and all facets of the client's business rather than mere routine attendance to immediate problems
  • Prepare engagement letters and any subsequent modifications for approval by a shareholder
  • Answer questions the client may have to gain a complete understanding of the nature and terms of an engagement, including an estimate of fees
  • Responsible for making sure the engagement letter is signed by the client and returned before the start of the engagement
  • Evaluate internal controls and work programs prepared by the staff and if necessary, revise the work program, then discuss the work program and time budget with the shareholders to obtain approval
  • Follow the progress of the work during an engagement in relation to budgeted time and scheduled dates of completion, spending as much time as possible with the client's management group, periodically reviewing the working papers as the job progresses and determine whether all phases of the engagement are being carried out properly and in the best sequence
  • Follow reports through processing, answer any questions that may arise, submit reports to the shareholder in charge for final approval and signature and supervise the distribution according to the client's instructions
  • Deal directly with the client's attorney or brokers, taxing authority agents, and other third parties
  • Develop new business for the firm and maintain its professional image in the community
  • Anticipate and resolve problems, with the shareholder's approval, as they arise and review the report drafted by staff as the engagement nears completion

Job Functions and Responsibilities:

As a bookkeeper, you will have direct client contact and will be responsible for the review and preparation of general ledgers, financial statements, payroll tax returns and bank reconciliations. You will be responsible for maintaining and filing requisite documents for taxation compliance, monitor cash flow and produce financial reports to assist managers in making strategic decisions.

 

Responsibilities of a Bookkeeper:

  • Review of financials, 1099’s, payroll tax, managing projects and working directly with clients on accounting
  • Review mail, email, and other communications daily for actionable items, such as checks, invoices, notices, etc. and communicate timely to team lead
  • Responsible for cash management, including cash transfers and managing cash balances
  • Enter and review client invoices in our accounting software and pay bills timely on an ongoing basis
  • Prepare wire transfers accurately and timely
  • Process records and review bank deposits into correct entities/account
  • Review and reconcile intercompany activity between multiple entities
  • Review monthly bank reconciliations timely and accurately
  • Prepare and review cash receipt and disbursement reports and send to client in a timely manner
  • Review AR Aging Report and follow up as necessary
  • Assist with preparation of financial statements
  • Assist with clients’ medical insurance reimbursements as needed
  • Prepare and assist with being the team lead of annual 1099 filings
  • Coordinate with third party payroll companies to report periodic payroll runs (as needed)
  • Review payroll tax returns prepared by payroll company to the general ledger (as needed)
  • Assist and prepare Tax & License forms such as City Business License Returns, Secretary of State Statements of Information and Business Personal Property (as needed)
  • Collaborate with team lead to prepare credit applications (mortgages, autos, etc.) (as needed)
  • Collaborate with team lead in communications with property and casualty insurance brokers (as needed)
  • Communicate with clients’ vendors to resolve billing inquiries (as needed)
  • Attend team meetings to be informed of client needs

Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Perform technical review of selected tax returns such as, but not limited to, business and 1040 tax returns
  • Deal with more complex tax issues and prepare more complex tax returns for various types of entities
  • Prepare tax accruals and required footnote disclosures for financial statements
  • Prepare tax planning, estimates and become involved in planning for more complex clients
  • Direct and coordinate tax planning for less complex client situations
  • Perform diversified accounting and tax assignments under the direction of manager and shareholder
  • Thoroughly verify information through independent research, document complicated issues and communicate source information
  • Contact clients by phone or email to gather necessary information
  • Review files to ensure that they possess the necessary signatures, contain the necessary supporting documentation, and comply with filing due dates
  • Obtain proper filing extensions when necessary
  • Contribute to the client service team by producing quality work, quick turnaround and attentive service 
  • Perform detailed review on tax returns, research, and compliance work with an emphasis on calculations, accounting theory, and tax law compliance, depending on experience
  • Perform all work in compliance with the firm’s policies and procedures
  • Perform services within budgeted time by developing technical, time management and organization skills 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Master’s Degree in Accounting
  • 3+ years relative work experience as a reviewer
  • CPA Preferred
  • If licensed, should be a member in good standing with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA)

  • Prepare personal tax projections utilizing the BNA software package 
  • Respond to tax notices of any sort and initial drafts of letters required 
  • Prepare payroll tax, sales tax, property tax, and 1099 filings 
  • Prepare employee benefit plan reporting returns (Form 5500 series) 
  • Prepare returns of organization exempt from income tax (Form 990 series 
  • Make adjusting entries and complete trial balances to prepare tax returns 
  • Contribute to the client service team by producing quality work, quick turnaround and attentive service 
  • Perform services within budgeted time by developing technical, time management and organization skills 

 

Qualifications:
